Join the GSA Team as a Junior Architectural Technician

 

Gillespie & Steel Associates (GSA) is seeking to recruit a Junior Architectural Technician to join our experienced and dynamic team. The following is a checklist of qualities we seek to find in a new team member:

 

Junior Architectural Technician's Responsibilities:

  • Prepare 2D/3D drawings and construction drawings from schematic designs to completion

  • Ensure drawings meet the GSA standards both in appearance and function

  • Cooperate with senior team members to produce additional documentation where necessary

  • Survey existing buildings and produce drawings documenting existing conditions

  • Coordinate with design consultants to include additional technical information

 

Desired Skills:

  • Technically proficient in 2D and 3D software

  • Teachable and willing to learn company software

  • Strong understanding of construction methods and a high attention to detail

  • Ability to work under direct supervision

  • Effective interpersonal skills and a team player

  • Comfortable problem solving and taking initiative

 

Qualifications and Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Diploma in Architectural Drafting or an equivalent qualification from a tertiary institution

  • Relevant drafting office experience may be an asset

  • Exposure to BIM software and Vectorworks would be an asset

Join the GSA Team as an Associate Level Interior Architect / Interior Designer​

Gillespie & Steel Associates (GSA) is seeking to recruit an Associate Level Interior Architect / Interior Designer to join our experienced and dynamic team. The following is a checklist of qualities we seek to find in a new team member:

 

Associate Level Interior Architect / Interior Designer's Responsibilities:

  • Lead a project from concept to completion, including preparation of presentation, detail design and construction documentation, selection and specification of materials and product through Conceptual Design, Design Development and Production Information phases of a project 

  • Collaborate with colleagues and oversee juniors where necessary

  • Communicate design to clients and manage projects through to delivery

  • Coordinate with other design consultants 

  • Manage project timelines and budgets where necessary

  • Manage projects on site, including site inspections and coordination with contractors

  • Build relationships with vendors and industry professionals 

  • Promote the business and grow our client base 

 

Desired Skills:

  • Creative and open-minded and able to provide elegant and efficient design solutions

  • Technically proficient in company software

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail

  • Ability to work under indirect supervision

  • Effective interpersonal skills and and collaborative management style

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and time spent outside of comfort zone acquiring new skills

 

Qualifications, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture from an accredited institution

  • 7+ years of Design experience, particularly in Hospitality Design

  • Understanding and knowledge of interior design, space planning, material and product specification and building construction

  • Proficiency in BIM is essential. Vectorworks and the Apple suite of office software would be an asset

  • NCIDQ credentials 

  • LEED or other green building accreditation/credentials are welcomed

The Architect’s Responsibilities:​

  • Research, program, plan, design, and administer building projects, applying knowledge of architectural design, construction detailing, construction procedures, zoning and building codes, and building materials and systems

  • Direct, supervise, and manage activities of colleagues engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents for the Conceptual Design, Design Development and Production Information phases of a project

  • Work in tandem and coordinate the work of highly collaborative multi-discipline design teams

Desired Skills:​

  • Technically creative and open-minded  and Is able to provide elegant and efficient design solutions

  • Has excellent oral and written communication

  • Has analytical and problem-solving skills and high attention to detail

  • Is able to work under indirect supervision

  • Has effective interpersonal skills and and collaborative management style

  • Is comfortable with ambiguity and time spent outside of comfort zone acquiring new skills

Qualifications, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:​

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution

  • 3+ years of Architectural experience. ARB registration will be an asset

  • Understanding and knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, building construction, building systems and site requirements

  • Proficiency in BIM is essential. Vectorworks and the Apple suite of office software would be an asset

  • LEED credentials are welcomed

Residency:​

  • Candidates should be able to work in CSME territories

  • Candidates must qualify for residency in Barbados

​
